Pastor's Message

All Things Work Together
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Number One - All things work.
This is certainly true. No one questions the movement and work ability of live bodies from an ant to man. All work is honorable. Street sweepers are just as much a member of the health department as the hospital medical director.

Today’s false standards and equally false value judgments have the common citizen apologizing for his seemingly menial labor. But why should a farmer apologize to a lawyer when that same lawyer was fed through the farmer’s agricultural knowledge? Why should a cook apologize to a banker when that same banker eats the hot buttered rolls of the under-degreed cook?

Refusing to work bucks the very order of the universe. A lazy person is unhappy, uncomfortable, irresponsible, and eventually anti-social. So yes…we should all work.

Number Two – All things work together.
There is work HARMONY in the universe. The sun, moon, stars in our world work together. They all move in perfect synchronization. There’s no record of a traffic jam. Each maintains its position and distance. Neither frets the other. The seasons arrive orderly. The waters behave themselves.

Number Three – All things work together for good.
It’s easy to see all things working. It’s quite a bit more difficult to prove that the universe works in harmony. But it is ultra difficult to show that all things work together FOR GOOD. God, however, has given the revelation.

Its hard for the finite mind to understand how GOOD can come from adversity; negatives, reverses, disease, misfortune, disappointments. For example, how can an enemy do you good while trying to do you harm? But there is no such thing as a self-made man, and all of us are linked in some fashion to each other. Like the workmen on an assembly line, each of us is a part of the whole, even those who would do evil. The Bible says “fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.” They will only give you hell for a season!

    Adversity breeds character. .
  • If a man has no enemies, he has nothing to oppose…nothing to overcome.
  • Birth pains always precede motherhood.
  • The rough side of the mountain is the only side you can climb.
The story is told of a man out in the country training a mule. He hit the mule across the head with a 2 x 4 and knocked him down. Another man saw it and asked, “Why did you hit that mule like that?” He answered, “I’m trying to get his attention so I can train him.”

Man has a lot of mule in him. God uses our 2 x 4 experiences to train us to follow Him. God had to knock Paul down on the Damascus road so Jesus could make an appointment with him. God never had to knock Paul down again. But adversity hit Paul more than once. Adversity hits all of us. It’s an inseparable part of life. Adversity attempts to defeat us. Paul said, “We fight against powers and principalities; against wickedness in high places.” But in the end, if we trust the Lord, adversity only makes us strong.

Joseph was dragged from his home and dumped in a dungeon.
Martin Luther King, Jr. battled the evil hierarchy.
Jesus, the commander of heaven’s army, met the worst opposition on earth.
None of them ever forgot to pray.

  • When you are wronged – pray.
  • When you are lonely – pray.
  • When you are weary – pray.
  • When you are sad – pray.
  • When you’re in need of a blessing – pray.
  • When you’re sick – pray.
  • When you’re weak – pray.
  • When your children go wrong – pray.

- Joseph’s adversity led him from the pit of slavery to the throne room of Pharaoh.
- Dr. King’s adversity produced equal rights for us all.
- Jesus’ adversity gave every man’s soul the right to choose Eternal Life.

Number Four – All things work together for good, to them that love the Lord.
You don’t want to go through this life alone. You may THINK you do. But you don’t!
You may think you can make all things work together for your good, but you can’t do it without the Lord. Jesus is the Master of the Universe…the One who orchestrates the outcome.
  • There has never been a battle that He could not win.
  • There has never been a burden that He could not lift.
  • There has never been a heartache that He could not heal.
  • There has never been a darkness that He could not dispel.
All things work.....
All things work together!
But all things work together for good…only to them that love the Lord!
    It’s time to trust Him.
  • There is no doubt that He cannot destroy.
  • There is no problem that He cannot solve.
  • There is no pressure that He cannot relieve.
  • There is no life that He cannot remold.
  • No mountain He cannot move;
  • No door He cannot open;
  • No sorrow He will not share…
